Employer Benefits

The program provides the following for participating employers:

  • Skilled IBM Z® talent with unique knowledge of your environment through on-the-job training
  • Recruitment services with a focus on diversity, underrepresented populations, and veterans
  • More than 320 hours of technical training throughout the life of the program, at no charge
  • Apprenticeship program administration services and a Success Coach for each apprentice

What is required to participate?

Employers should first identify the location and type of apprentices needed: Mainframe Sys Admin/Sys Prog and/or Mainframe Application Developer. Employers then agree to hire apprentices for a one-year apprenticeship, assigning technical mentors and on-the-job training. Apprentices must be able to attend virtual training sessions during normal working hours, and will be provided incremental wage increases based on competency achievements.
